Carol Jebet is an employee in one of the NGOs in Kenya implementing the KNAP II (Women, Peace and Security)project in Baringo county and a member of Baringo Civil society Forum.
She is passionate in advocating for women rights, gender equality and social inclusion acknowledging that climate impacts have deep biting effects not only to a community but more thrilling effects on women, children and all other Special interest Groups. Considering that the climate change effects experienced in her county including swelling of lake Baringo, flash floods, landslides, prolonged drought and famine are rooted on previous and indirect ongoing industrial activities and environmental degradation that doesn’t necessarily happen within the county that has resulted in pasture conflicts; limited resource conflict and inter community conflicts for banditry and cattle rustling.
Climate justice to Carol then needs to mean an inclusive approach that entails gender responsive approach in strategizing climate change mitigation programs.
