Biography

Based between Berlin and Cape Town, Bérénice Hahn works in sales strategies and festival distribution with author-driven fiction and documentary features at Square Eyes, a Vienna-based agency specialising in having daring, outstanding, non-mainstream films find the audience and recognition they deserve.

When at STEPS, Cape Town-based non-profit media company, she coordinated the international festival distribution and sales of Generation Africa, pan-African collection of 25 documentaries sharing the lived realities of African youth through the lens of migration across 16 African countries in the anglophone and francophone regions.

Berry is a Committee Member at the IDA Documentary Awards and was a film reviewer for the documentary program at the 42nd edition of DIFF. She worked as a Producer on Mzansi in the time of Covid-19, a STEPS project engaging diverse audiences in open discussions about the impacts of Covid-19 on South African communities, of which two films won the Best Documentary Short award at the 15th edition of the SAFTAs. Realness Institute almuna, she participated to the Southern Africa-Locarno Industry Academy 2021.

She is currently developing Zanatany, a feature film about the political tapestry of her home country, Madagascar.
