Thuku Kariuki is a producer/production manager and a filmmaker at Afrika Live Media, a pan-African media production company based in Nairobi, Kenya. He has worked in the media industry for the last 12 years. For the last 6 years, Thuku has worked as an environment journalist for several international media organizations among them Deutsche Welle and TRT World News.
Thuku has produced tens of environment conservation stories for DW Eco Africa, a pan African environment magazine show broadcast on Deutsche Well TV and through their partners NTV Uganda and channels TV. He has produced tens of stories in Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
Thuku started his career as a live TV producer for a midday business show. From there he went on to become a content producer and writer for Africa 24 Media – a Pan-African media agency that connects the rest of the world with content production resources and information from and about Africa.
After the revolution in Egypt in 2011, Thuku met youngsters whose spirits were still alive. In 2014, he was in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, for the Peace One Day event, where he met young people full of hope for a better, more peaceful country.
In 2021, Thuku met with a group of enthusiastic locals in Arusha Tanzania who were applying innovative ways to reclaim their degraded lands. Thuku has travelled to more than 15 African countries capturing the positive Africa and African talent. This experience has inspired his work
